Our progress so far…

Our organisation teach Korean to students in Burundi to support their nursing studies and help them adapt to life in Korea.

As a result, one of the students we taught won first place at the 1st RISE Korean Speech Contest for International Students.

Additionally, through a school-organised fundraising initiative, we donated four sets of iPads along with screen protectors and cases to students in Burundi.

The progress will be elaborated in the sections below…

01.
Lessons

We provided Korean language lessons focusing on grammar, TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) preparation, and practical communication skills. To help students adapt more confidently to university life and everyday situations in Korea, we independently developed and prepared customised learning materials. Students worked through these materials during lessons, strengthening their Korean proficiency and building the language skills needed for academic success and daily interactions.

Our organisation collaborated with the Jeju Office of Education to donate over 100 mattresses to the dormitories of Choi Jung Suk High School in Burundi. The students warmly welcomed the donation and helped set up the mattresses themselves.

In addition, our team raised funds at the school’s Christmas Bazaar by selling bungeoppang (Korean fish-shaped pastries). The proceeds enabled us to purchase four iPads, along with screen protectors and protective cases, to support students in their university studies.

03.
Cultural Experience

As part of our cultural exchange activities, we visited Dongmun Market in Jeju, where students had the opportunity to interact directly with local vendors, practice communicating in Korean, and purchase items on their own. Through these hands-on experiences, they explored local market culture and gained a deeper appreciation of everyday life in Jeju.
